James Fitch

James Fitch is a dedicated trumpet and music instructor who has been teaching at Danman’s Music School since 2019. With over seven years of teaching experience, James brings a strong background in performance and pedagogy, having played with the Saddleback College Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, and various combos. His musical expertise spans classical, jazz, and commercial styles. James is passionate about music education and plans to pursue advanced degrees in musicology to continue inspiring the next generation of musicians.

Teaching Experience
James has over 7 years of experience teaching trumpet and brass fundamentals to students of all ages. His teaching style blends traditional techniques with modern applications, helping students develop strong tone, musicality, and confidence both on stage and in rehearsal. He is known for being encouraging, methodical, and deeply invested in his students’ growth as both musicians and individuals.

James has performed with a wide range of ensembles, including:

Saddleback College Symphony Orchestra

Saddleback Wind Ensemble

Jazz Lab Band and jazz combos

Various classical chamber groups and jazz quartets

His versatility as a performer allows him to move fluidly between orchestral, jazz, and contemporary styles, with live performances across academic, professional, and community settings.

Recording Experience
James is featured on an R&B project set to release in 2022, highlighting his ability to contribute to modern commercial music as both a player and creative collaborator. He continues to work on session recordings and new material across multiple genres.

James plans to pursue a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Musicology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a musicology professor. He hopes to blend his practical performance background with academic research and teaching, helping others explore the cultural and historical dimensions of music.
