Production, Composition, Theory, Drums, Piano, Guitar, Bass & Ukulele
John Donello is a multi-instrumentalist and composer with a B.A. in Music Composition from Occidental College. With a background in rock, pop, and classical music, John brings a creative and versatile approach to teaching piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, percussion, composition, production, and music theory. Teaching Experience:
While earning my B.A. in Music Composition at Occidental College, I taught music theory and production from 2022 to 2024. I loved working with students and helping them understand how music works—both creatively and technically.
Performance Experience:
As a composer, my main focus is writing for performers rather than performing myself. That said, I’ve played guitar in a punk band during my teens and later performed percussion with the Occidental Symphony. Recently, I arranged strings for a Suki Waterhouse performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and had an original orchestral piece premiered by the Occidental Symphony.
Music Style:
I’m passionate about a wide range of musical genres. As a composer working toward a career in film, TV, and video games, versatility is essential—each scene calls for a unique sound, and I enjoy the challenge of crafting music that fits any mood or moment.
Short-Term Goals:
I’m currently working on an original soundtrack that’s set to release sometime in 2026!
Long-Term Goals:
My dream is to write music for film, television, and video games professionally.
Bands/Collaborations:
I’m currently working solo, but I regularly collaborate with other artists to help bring their musical visions to life.
Fun Facts:
I’ve broken my right arm three times.
I also have experience as an audio engineer.
